Ultra-lightweight with a matte silver finish. Corrosion-resistant and easy to mount.
Aluminium signs from Metal Marvel start at $119 AUD including GST for the standard 600 × 200 mm size. Cut from 2 mm 5052 aluminium, they are one-third the weight of steel and naturally corrosion-resistant.
Aluminium signs require minimal care. The natural oxide layer that forms on the surface protects the metal from further corrosion, so no sealing or painting is necessary.
An occasional rinse with water removes dust, salt, or pollen. In coastal environments, rinsing every few months helps maintain the bright matte appearance.
Compared to mild steel, aluminium is $20 more expensive but will never rust and is three times lighter. Mild steel offers raw industrial character; aluminium offers practicality and corrosion resistance.
Compared to stainless steel, aluminium is $10 cheaper and significantly lighter, but the matte finish is more subdued than the reflective brushed silver of stainless. Choose stainless for maximum premium impact; choose aluminium for weight savings and value.
Standard 600 × 200 mm aluminium signs are $119 AUD including GST. This covers laser cutting, surface preparation, and Australia-wide shipping.
Custom sizing is priced by area. Because aluminium sheet is lighter and less expensive than stainless steel, larger custom signs in aluminium are often more affordable than their steel equivalents. Contact us for a custom quote.
Yes. We use 2 mm 5052 aluminium alloy, which is specifically chosen for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in marine, automotive, and architectural applications. A 2 mm aluminium sign is more than strong enough for any residential or light-commercial outdoor use.
Not under normal conditions. The 2 mm thickness and 5052 alloy provide good rigidity. Like any thin metal sheet, it can be bent if deliberately forced, but once mounted on a wall or post it remains perfectly flat.
Aluminium does not rust, so it outperforms mild steel in wet or coastal environments. It is also one-third the weight, making it easier to mount. However, aluminium has a softer, matte appearance compared to the bold reflectivity of stainless steel or the rugged texture of mild steel.
Yes, aluminium takes anodising and powder coating very well. Our standard signs are supplied with a natural matte finish, but we can arrange coloured finishes on request.
Aluminium naturally forms a thin oxide layer that protects it from further corrosion. This means it will not rust like steel, though in extremely salty environments the surface can develop a very faint chalky patina over many years.
A standard 600 × 200 mm aluminium sign weighs approximately 0.6 kg — about one-third the weight of an equivalent steel sign. This makes it ideal for situations where mounting weight is a concern.
Absolutely. Aluminium is naturally corrosion-resistant and performs well in salt air. It is a popular choice for beach houses, boats, and pool areas where rust-free longevity is essential.
Our standard house sign size is 600 × 200 mm. Custom sizes up to 1200 × 600 mm are available. Because aluminium is less expensive per kilogram than stainless steel, larger custom sizes are often more affordable in aluminium.
Because of the light weight, aluminium signs can be mounted with screws, adhesive strips, 3M tape, or small hooks. For permanent outdoor installation we still recommend mechanical fasteners, but the options are more flexible than with heavy steel.
The matte finish is durable for normal handling and outdoor exposure. Like any metal, it can scratch if scraped with a sharp object, but the soft matte texture hides minor marks better than a glossy surface would.
