Painted finishes
Prepped, primed and painted in our workshop. Front or both sides.
Every Metal Marvel sign can carry an optional painted finish, on mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium. Choose Standard (gloss or satin), Textured or Metallic in the designer. Painting starts at $55, is added to the price of the sign, and adds 1-2 workshop days to the usual 4-7 workshop days. Raw metal stays the default and costs nothing extra.
The three finishes
Standard
Prepped, primed and painted in a solid colour. Choose gloss or satin.

Textured
A hammered, slightly dimpled finish that hides fingerprints and small marks.

What a painted finish costs
The price is added to your sign and depends on the size of the sign and the finish. Painting both sides costs more than the front only. Prices include GST. The designer shows the exact amount for your sign as you choose.

Minimum charge $55. When both sides are painted, the back matches the front in finish and colour.
How long it takes
Most orders dispatch in 4-7 workshop days after proof and payment confirmation. A painted finish adds 1 workshop day for the front only or 2 workshop days for both sides, so painted orders dispatch in 5-8 workshop days (front only) or 6-9 workshop days (both sides). How we paint
After your sign is cut, we clean and degrease it, key the surface so the paint holds, and prime it. Aluminium and stainless steel get a primer made for those metals. We then apply the colour in coats, and let it cure before packing. The result is a painted sign made for indoor and sheltered outdoor spots.
What to know first
- Best for indoor and sheltered outdoor use. A painted finish is not a substitute for powder coating in harsh exposure such as full sun, coastal salt or high wear.
- Stainless steel: paint can chip at the edges and corners over time, so we recommend painted stainless for indoor signs.
- Powder coating: not currently a standard service. Raw mild steel, brushed stainless steel and matte aluminium remain the default, at no extra cost.
